Questions

Frequently asked

When is the best time to visit Jaisalmer?

October to March is the most comfortable, and November to January is peak season, with cool, clear days and cold desert nights. February brings the Desert Festival. July to September (the monsoon) is quiet and green, with the best hotel rates of the year. April to June is very hot.

Are desert camps open all year?

Most camps at Sam and Khuri open from about September to March and close in the hottest months. Some resorts with permanent rooms stay open all year. Each stay page shows its usual open months.

Sam or Khuri: which dunes should we choose?

Sam has taller dunes, more luxury camps and a lively, festive atmosphere at sunset. Khuri is quieter and more rustic, with village life around it. We help you choose based on your style.

How do the prices on this website work?

Where we have reliable rates, you see an estimate that adjusts for the season and the type of day (weekday, weekend, holiday or festival). Things whose prices change often are marked ‘Request quote’. We always confirm the final price in a written quote before you pay anything.

How do we get from the airport or station to the desert?

We arrange private transfers with a chauffeur waiting on arrival. The city is about 20 minutes from the airport, and the camps at Sam and Khuri are about 45–60 minutes from the city.

Can you plan a full Rajasthan tour?

Yes. Our Marwar Royal Circuit links Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, and we can extend it to Jaipur, Udaipur or Bikaner with a chauffeur throughout.

Is Jaisalmer suitable for families and older travellers?

Very much so. We choose stays with easy access, keep the pace relaxed, and offer gentler alternatives such as jeep safaris instead of long camel rides.

What should we pack?

Layers for winter evenings, which can drop close to freezing in the desert. Sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen all year. Comfortable shoes for the Fort's cobbled lanes, and modest clothing for temples.
