Amar Sagar is a reservoir with a small royal pleasure palace, stepped ghats and carved animal figures, built by the rulers of Jaisalmer as a summer retreat.

Beside it stands a Jain temple whose carving rivals the havelis in the old city. The lake fills after a good monsoon, which makes it a lovely stop from August to October.
